14 x 26" California Black & Red Marble - 1998
C.W. Fulmer
#981
Often referred to as “California Black and Red” this marble reveals the earth's history hundreds of millions of years ago. Isolated along a long abandoned route, this stone was once quarried by the Union Pacific Railroad and can be seen as wainscoting along the walls of the Los Angeles Union station. Fulmer's love affair with this particular type of stone manifests here as an ancient figure emerging from the earth with the delicious simplicity of an Arp. sold
